Found objects (camera parts, watch parts, electronics, transformer wire), pressure-cast urethane resin, alum/brass hanger.
I happened to have the parts on hand so I assembled two of these shield beetles, the one also includes a flower. The green thorax is made of a central, green, vintage capacitor and single green button (cut in half) from an old mechanical adding machine on the left/right sides of that capacitor. The orange part of the beetle is kapton circuit film, cut to shape. There are two watch faces used underneath the orange kapton. The silver parts in the center of the body are from a Bic lighter and a shrader valve (used in bicycle tires.) All of the feet are made from gold-plated electrical contact wires of some type — one of the many odd parts I have around.
- Certificate of Authenticity included.
- Embossed signature label on bottom of cast.
- There is a custom-made aluminum key-hole hanger on the back that is screwed to the cast, this allows the cast to float away from the wall when hung.
- Includes hanging screw for drywall or wood wall.
- There may be slight surface imperfections on all casts including small surface bubbles or curved edges. I highlight other notable blemishes in the images with a red circle.
- The cast creature is susceptible to fingerprints, clean with a small amount of window cleaner and a soft cloth.
- Keep out of direct sunlight or high-emitting UV lights.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and rapid temperature variations.
