This is one of three small, hemispheric urethane casts I made to test LED lighting effects with these 'lenses.' I would consider these prototype ideas — wrapped up nicely so that they can hang on a wall. Embedded into the clear hemisphere are three colored arcrylic rods. This contains a small coin battery holder with and an on/off switch.
Embedded into this cast are three, yellow, acrylic rods. The back (flat side) of this lens cast has three narrow channels on it's surface that refract the light. Behind the cast, threre are three (2 blue, 1 red) long, filament LEDs. I slid colored tubing over these long LEDs and mounted them to a PCB. Basically, the hemispheric cast is just backlit by the LEDs.
This lens is mounted to small, stained, wood panel and frame with a cable hanger on the back.
These lights are challenging to photograph — the images provide various lighting scenarios.
