This is one of three small, hemispheric urethane casts I made to test LED lighting effects with these 'lenses.' I would consider these prototype ideas — wrapped up nicely so that they can hang on a wall. Embedded into the clear hemisphere are three colored arcrylic rods. This contains a small coin battery holder with and an on/off switch.
Embedded into this cast are three purple acrylic rods (held together with copper wire) and I've actually embedded three, long, soft-white, 'filament' LEDs into the resin. The LEDs are soldered together on brass wire — the wire is exposed on the back of the cast where I can connect to the battery. The back (flat side) of the hemisphere has numerous divots carved into to the surface. There is an additional tiny LED that is attached to the panel, behind the lens, and shines through the back of it.
This lens is mounted to a stained piece of MDF with a key-hole hanger on the back.
These lights are challenging to photograph — the images provide various lighting scenarios.
