This piece requires an outlet and includes a 9V 3A DC power adapter. The clock chip includs a 3V CR1220 coin battery that retains the time when powered off This battery should last 2-5 years.
This kinetic piece contains edge-lit acrylic plates that either cycle through digits or display the time. The display continuously transitions through a pseudo-random array of colors.
The displays on this piece consist of 7 acrylic plates, stacked front-to-back with laser-cut 1/32" plywood spacers. The acrylic plates each have a segment of the digit etched into them, together they form a numerical digit when edge-lit from the bottom with RGB LEDs.
This piece has two modes that will alternate each time you plug it in. The 'Counter' mode cycles through digits 00-99 continuosly. The 'Clock' mode will display the current time. The clock can be set with a small joystick on the back of the piece. The display pivots and can be angled so that the face of the bezel is perpendicular to the viewer.
